Surfboard survey (What do you ride?)

Refering to post #2, my 6’8" egg has now perrished. Crazy as it is, it was the same spot that claimed the 9’4" in post #3. I think it might be a while till I surf that spot again. Perhaps its because I keep taking out mellow wave boards in an overhead, heavily bowling wave. One of these days I need to make a more gunny board.

Hopefully I can refrain from taking my new 9"0" to the graveyard.

dare i ask where this foam crushing, glass crunching mecca is??

“dare i ask where this foam crushing, glass crunching mecca is??”

canoes…lol

Here it is:

I’m 5’10", about 155lbs.

The Magic Board: Single fin, modernized version of a bing lotus. Works great in everything from summer beach break to DOH baja (just move the fin to the tail). Favorite board of all time, works like magic at Black’s, OB jetty, all Cliffs spots south of Abs.

6’0" x 18"N x 22 1/4" Wide point forward! x 15 1/4", about 2 1/2" thick (I think).

All types of flex fins are used, but I prefer the 8.5" Skip Frye way up in the box.

Surfing style??? I carve kind of like Curren, but I surf barrels more like Gerry, I guess… HA!!! I like taking off behind the peak, going fast and doing huge turns. I have more fun than anybody else, but I wipeout hard doing something ridiculous at least once every 30 minutes.

The “other” board:

5’10" Twin keel fish that I shaped by stripping the glass off of the first longboard I ever shaped.

5’10" x 17 1/4" N x 21 1/2" W x 15 1/8" T

Not too thick, maybe 2 1/2" inches… whatever I could salvage from the longboard. No rocker, since this was a salvage project.

Glass-on Gephardt keels with a little help from Pavel on where to place them (nicest guy ever). The board does work well, though.

I also surf a 9’2" Skip Frye-fake that I made using the Bing Lotus template (only for when I’m lazy and don’t feel like paddling). No idea what the dimensions are, but it’s another magic board. And an 11’1" paddle surf hybrid that I shaped by tracing a Velzy Pig and stretching it to 11’1" using CAD software at a friend’s engineering firm (I’m sure they appreciated me using their large format printer for this project).

Adios!
