Surfboard Template sharing website

Hi all,

We have launched a website that we felt was filling a void : Surfboard Templates (http://www.surfboardtemplates.com)

Surfboard Templates

The basic idea behind this is to offer a place for hobbyist shapers (and why not pros) where to share the templates of the boards they have made. It is all free, managed by hobbyist shapers for hobbyist shapers.

Each board is described properly and that makes searching for templates pretty accurate when you are looking for inspiration for your next model. Templates can also be linked to a forum thread where it has been discussed / presented in details.

So far, we have a community of a little less than 30 shapers, who have published 8 board templates. Of course, the website will take its full dimension when enough people have contributed their designs.

Also, please don’t hesitate to tell us if you see any mistake in translations or if you want to contribute for writing a few missing pieces of text (like some short descriptions about outlines, rails, fin setups, …)

Regards,

Vincent from Biarritz

(no way to edit my public profiles, it keeps saying my location is missing but there ain’t no field to write that info in the form)

Vincent, Hope you have a lot of success with this. Have you looked at the site Blending curves?

hi,

yes, we had a look at existing sites about templates. Our conclusion on the french shapers forum was that it would be cool to get all the info to build a board, along with feedback about them post-building, plus some collaborative aspect, where anyone can contribute. Also, on all websites we could find, there rarely was more info than the outline (rocker sometimes, rails never, board program never). This website is not specially mine, I have released it for the shapers community (starting with shaperoom.net people). No money is involved there. I simply use it as an item in my portfolio (I make websites). Let's just hope our community uses it.

With only one reply it seems OK to bump. A few shapes on the site but it’s very quiet
