Surfboard Wax

I tried this recipe, and tried more or less of each material. But did not end up with a wax that was what i wanted. Does anyone have any experience makeing surfboard wax that can point me in the right direction.

thanks,

Eddie (and yes I know I can Buy it for a buck)

------------------------------- Basic Surf Wax Mixture: (Melt together at about 100F) 60-70% Paraffin Wax, 15-20% Microcrystalline Wax, 5-10% Petroleum Jelly, 5-10% Adhesive vybar) Small amounts of Scent and dye. The amount of petroleum jelly and wax needs to be adjusted for the water temperature in your region. If the Temp is warm in your region use more wax and less petroleum. If the water is cold use more petroleum and less wax. The Microcrystalline wax and Vistenex give it the “stickiness”. Watch out it can get real messy.

Either a future molecular engineer practicing or a mad scientist in the making.

Isn’t wax still 50 cents a bar?

I don’t make my own leash attachment string, or even my own wetsuit neoprene formula.

But…go for it, write it down, keep trying…

has anybody followed this reciepe with any amount of sucess, i under stand that its a hit or miss thing and where can i by these ingredients

Hi Eddie,

Search for roy stewart’s recipe in the archives. I think november-ish of last year, I could be wrong. All I remember was that it was an all-natural wax and easy to make using stuff you can get from your local stores. 'Never did try it.
