I am in the process of buying a vintage twin fin surfboard with removable fins and a lam on it that says “Surfboards From Pelican Mountain”. I have been buying, selling and trading vintage boards for years and have never ran across this brand. I can find nothing on the internet about it except on “Stanleys” it has a photo of the lam. I think they were made in Mendocino, California. If anyone knows anything about the history of this board I would really appreciate the info. Mahalo
Im sure i saw Pelican mountain on an episode of dora the explorer once.
I remember those boards from the early 70’s when I was a kid in high school. Jeff Prindle’s label. Jeff was one of the original owners of Surfglas before it was sold to Ron House. Jeff went on to build catamarans with Prindle Cats. I got to know Jeff in the lat 90’s at Channin where he was working as a glasser. I haven’t seen Jeff since 2002. Don’t know what he’s doing these days.
I used to have a twin fin hard funboard by that company, White top w/, red top trim and belly finish. I guess it was more of a grovler but I;'m sure it was a quick cutter for it’s day. It’s a very fun board, can handle 2-3ft mush and 5-3ft rolls. If you have an extra board by Geoffrey Prindle I’d love to buy it.
