Few men have made as positive a mark on the world as Steve. For me it’s indelible. There is certain immortal quality to some so full of life as he. Who can forget his wide eyed exclamations of joy and awe and his undying respect for nature. When you live a close to dangerous beasts as he did there may come a time when you simply don’t see the bullet comming. Swimming in the strike zone was what got him. I’m sure he knew where he was after all he made his living on its edge – R.I.P. Steve
Its crazy to see how many people knew or could relate to him. Here in the U.S., he was known practically in every household…especially with kids. Anytime he was on tv I definitly watched and was definitly amazed at the episode where he was dropping in on those big lefts. The coolest part about it was that he was still wearing those brown shorts and button down brown shirt! He wore that stuff everywhere…in fact the other night had an episode of him scuba diving and he was wearing those shorts and shirt while everyone else had on wetsuits. Hah. He will surely be missed. You never heard of anyone talking bad about him…critics and hollywood…no one has anything but good to say about him. I think I recall him showing up on the red carpet wearing that same outfit. Great guy. That is too bad and my prayers are definitly with his wife and kids. So sad b/c no one could replace him and no one will be as stoked on life as he was. He lived the dream.
That really bumbed me out when I heard the news. My dad always said he was going to die before he hit 45…It was just a little while after. But who would have expected a stingger to the heart? An crock to the head, maybe, but a stingray? no way.
Irwins last words…
“Alright, here we are with the elusive stingray. These are widly misunderstood animals and deserve our protection, I’m going to poke at him a little so I can show you his OH CRIKEY! This bloke just stung me in me heart.”
They were filming when he was attacked. The police have viewed the footage and report that he wasn’t harrassing the ray in anyway. Obviously swimming too close but not bothering it as you’d expect.
Steve ( crocodile hunter) Irwins state funeral was today at Australia Zoo. At the end they loaded his truck with all the gear he’ll need his esky , swag ,various other important stuff, then his board. Not a dry eye at my place . The world is a different place. I know I’ll miss him as will my family .
