Surfing After Glassing

Does anyone have advice on how long you need to wait after glassing a board before surfing it? Does it matter if the board is sanded coat versus gloss coat or wet sanded gloss? Thanks in advance.

By the way, I have heard the “wait 2 weeks” advice, but I have had 2 glassers tell me that it really doesn’t make much difference, especially if you have gloss coat. Just wondering if anyone here feels that the 2 week advice is overly cautious or right on the money. Thanks.

Al Merrick had a sticker on his boards that advised a 3 week cure time, that’s with conventional resin.if the board is layed up with UV resin it’s ready to ride now.Sometimes rubbing out a gloss job can create to much heat and this will resoften the resin that was curing, therefore your cure time starts after the rub out and not after it was layed up.

Thanks Mike, Good information… Crabie>>> Here is a link to some info on the harbour page. It might help you out.
