Surfing all 50 states....one by one

Hi kids!

After living in Long Beach, Ca. and surfing for 40+ years, it was a culture shock to have to relocate near Nashville Tennessee back in July. Bert Burger puts a beautiful Sunova, out of his Perth shop into my hands and six weeks later I am landlocked…Aaaauugh!!! While I used to hate crowded surf, I found myself longing for the company of other surfers, which brings us to these Aussies…

www.surfing50states.com … I contacted the guys who are traveling the country “surfing” where they find it. Conveyor belts, canals, Alaskan point break. When they are down they are doing a documentary. They couldn’t believe I had 10+ boards here, and we ended up surfing the steep grass hill below the capitol steps in early December. They are now up near Maine. These guys were a lot of fun, and I had a great time hosting them.

I was sharing what a great community Sway’s is, and how open, friendly the 50 or so Swaylockians I had met were. With that in mind I encourage those of you on the eastern side of the US to check them out and/or surf with them. You can contact them through the website.

I miss those of you out there at Cerritos college, I hope the Christmas season finds you all well. And thanks again Mr Paler for allowing me to keep up with this surf world, even if I rarely post, but read voraciously.

hmmm…the lines on the map show them coming as far south as miami…but the itinerary says orlando is the closest they’re gonna get.

bummer.

Howzit soulstice, The map only shows 48 States, once again Hawaii and Alaska aren't considered states. I have ordered things on the internet and when it comes to where you live they actually still consider Hi. a pacific territory,go figure.Aloha,Kokua
