Geez, yah, meant Mick.
Dunno where I got Mitch???
Cause I was gonna say, it’d be funny if Slater lost to a guy riding a board he designed while he was riding something else.
You know, I’m thinking thats not to far from reality.
Slater (as I’m told) was riding a Tomo ‘sci-fi’ in his wave pool promo vid (the wave Slater does a big air360 on, that was a Tomo).
It was as a while ago to.
Why did he ride a barnana board today in flat mush?. All the while he’s promoting his new board brand. A bit silly.
I am a fan of Connor Coffin’s program too.
He looks like Tom Curren
very impressive, this is the first time i’ve see him. heard his name a lot. strong kid.
Good that they have put it on hold, better to wait for the tide.
Not familiar with Snapper, but wish they put a camera further down the beach looking into the wave.
So hope Stu takes out Medina. That Nose pick 360 at speed was unique.
Stu’s tail design is looking awesome.
Quicky will be over quickly, as I will be down in a week or so…Kirra awaits!
Burleigh Headland in the distance…love the Goldy!
pro surfing is shit . burn the tents to the ground . protest paddle outs . BANNED banned BANNED… boooooooo .
I too wish pro surfing never existed. But it’s here and the boys and girls are ripping.
If surfin was less popular that would be great.
hi yorky. its not here yet! thank f@ck. still got primo waves to meself.
sharks= awesome lol
How was Stu’s Tomo???
Bottom turn projection was impressive!
I thought Toledo was absolutely ripping yesterday. JJF was pretty good as well. Two weeks ago he wins The Eddie now he’s pulling airs at The Superbank. If you could somehow marry Adriano’s competitive nous with JJF’s natural talent you’d have Slater all over again.
I visited the Gold Coast a couple of years ago in June. Surfed perfect shoulder high Snapper one morning with eight guys. At the end of that session I decided to quit while I was ahead. It’d be one of the most epic waves in the world if it wasn’t so crowded.
My interest is fading away as Kelly Slater is slipping towards retirement. His and Joel Parkinson are the only two on tour who’s surfing I enjoy watching.
Yah, Toledo RIPS as long as the waves have no consequence. As soon as the waves are heavy though it’s sad how quickly he turns off. If he could figure that out, he’d be unstoppable.
As for JJF, I think you hit the nail on the head. He doesn’t have the competitive drive of Kelly but talent wise, he’s head and shoulders above his peers.
Yeah, Slater doesn’t seem as focused as in previous years. I’m not sure why he doesn’t retire, or maybe just surf Fiji and Pipe. Parko still has a bit of gas in the tank I reckon. All the older guys on tour are going to be struggling against some of these young guys. A bit of a changing of the guard that’s been happening for a few years now.
Taking Parko and Slater out of the equation I still reckon there’s a few guys worth watching. JJF springs to mind! I also like Wilko and Toledo. Too bad Jordy keeps getting injured. He’s the other guy I like to watch.
Adriano is fairly calculated but you can’t help but admire his cool head. Similar to Mick Fanning really. He comes across as a nice bloke in his interviews as well.
At the end of the day though there’s only really four events I get excited about: J-Bay, Fiji, Tahiti and Pipe. They reallly need to go back to Chile (Arica) every year. I guess G-Land is out due to the security situation there unfortuantely. Maybe Bali again. Reunion was a good event but there’s the sharks. Somewhere in Peru would be pretty epic. That Mexico event a few years back was great, but I guess security is an issue once again. I’d love to see the tour at Raglan just once, but realistically that’s not going to happen.
