I have an opportunity to surf in Chile this month from the 20-25. I know the Pichilemu area is a usually consistent place for waves. But i dont know about the month of March? Will the winds be right? will the swells be there? Any help is appreciated. Tom
I understand you can surf all year around, except for july-august, when the wind is too strong. pichilemu has 3 beaches: “la puntilla” “el infiernillo” and “punta lobos” la puntilla is a very equiped beach, you can find bungalows, parking lots and all the facilities. the wave is a fast left, 0.6 miles long, with tubular sections. size varies from 4’ to 13’. infiernillo is 500 meters south from la puntilla, an spectacular black sand beach, rocky bottom, with lefty, very powerful waves. here you can surf with waves from 7’ and up, because if it’s smaller, the waves breaks directly over the rocks. punta lobos is 6 kms. south from pichilemu. another black sand beach, with 20’ and more, powerful lefties. if smaller than 7’, they break the same way that in infiernillo.
