“Slant 6” as in 170 or 225 cubes (guess that would be 2.8 & 3.7 liter, respectively)? Val as in Plymouth Valiant? I owned 2: a 1961 4-door (that had over a quarter-million miles when it gave up), and a 1963 Signet 2-door. In some ways, the best cars I’ve ever owned. I’ve never heard of that wagon model, though. Got any pics or additional info? OK to PM if you don’t want this thread to wander any further. Thx!
-Samiam
Valiant as in Chrysler
Slant 6 - Hemi 245
She only had 79,000 miles on her & was immaculate
Wow, I just wanted to see where the overall direction of this thread was headed after seeing the first post, and you’re on hemis now. Swaylocks–nothing if not eclectic!
Just for you ! Herb
wow, flashback… I used to go surfing in my Plymouth Valiant with a slant 6, 3 on the tree, had a swedish bumper sticker and about a million miles on it. Wasn’t a hemi, though. That car taught me never to attempt to replace wheel bearings without a hydraulic press…I remember rebuilding the carb and starting the car, but having gas squirt madly onto the running engine (not my fault, defective accelerator pump part!)… used to put the tandem board on the roof and head down to the beach with a pot of chili and a frisbee, spend all day there…
ahh, youth.
hmmm…swedish model , back of valiant … yep, that’s still pretty on topic , considering …
and now … Will wants in !! [note the turbo tunnel under the nose of the …er… vessel …]
so , Herb …
WHERE and WHEN will this “adult blow up surfing trials” [ABUST] be ??

Plymouth as in Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge. My first family-loan surf car was a 1963 Valiant “Signet 200” (if memory serves) 2 door, hardtop, typewriter (pushbutton on dash) automatic transmission, white paint with red interior. Never saw a wagon version until years later when by then they were collector items. Slant 6 engine was bombproof. MPG was great, and back then gas was cheap. Slapped white and orange aloha surf racks on top and the thing went anywhere…eventually to family in Oregon after one long drive up the coast as farewell tour.
Chip - you gotta be kidding. I went to college with Will Farrell’s wife, the lovely, brilliant, & talented Viveca Paulin.
She is actually from Sweden!
Ironically - she wanted nothing to do with the likes of me or any of my friends: too silly, too sophmoric, too loose. Too many parties, not so much on the studies, a little too over the top. And I may (disclaimer or may not) have been the worst of all. In any case…we were the same year & everything.
So who does she end up with? Yeah. OK.
Some place …JUICY ?
And a NUDE BEACH !!!..Errr… Clothing optional beach…
Blacks or Sand inholfur…Oppps…that’s SanOnofre ? ? ? ? ???
OR a rivermouth ?
Blosa Chics inlet ? Oppps… that’s Bolsa Chica.
