To Everyone,
I’m sending some pictures (I hope. This the first time I’ve tried this). They were taken at Cardiff Reef in 2001. The pup seal decided he wanted to be a surfer, and stayed up on the board for over an hour.
We could hardly believe it, but everybody was stoked. Doug
Up here in Nor-Cal if a seal or otter jumps on our board will assumne the poor thing was looking to get out of the water any way it can to avoid becoming part of the food chain. Pull your feet up quick!
Good catch, what did you use for Bait? Ha ha.

I don’t mind the seals… its the Sea Lions that can get too ornery for my liking…
Got roared at and bumped the other day… I guess the bulls don’t like bright red longboards…
4est, The guy in the picture is Ric, a buddy of mine. After awhile, Guy Takayama paddled in and got his tandem board to see if the seal would ride a wave with him. They got it on the board momentarily, but by then it had had enough sun, and it dove in the water & swam away. I’m glad I had time to get my camera for a few pictures. Doug
