So, how’s the board ride? Mike
“And…can’t you tell a 9’0’’ from a 9’4’’ without having to measure it? Before you buy it?”
Not me, I figure it out when I close the hatchback on the datsun 510 wagon and the nose pops the windshield out.
ha ha…I miss those and the little VW wagons.
I like Tudor’s boards… and I like his style. He’s an artist. It’s good to see somebody do something well, no matter what it is.
What’s going on here, I believe, is that there was an error that was never corrected. If I was him, I’d be embarrassed, and get right on it to fix it. Somebody would be looking for a new job tomorrow.
But the fact that that has not happened yet says something… Maybe he’s “out of the loop.” Maybe he just doesn’t care. Maybe he isn’t aware. But as the owner of a business, it’s your job to be aware. And if you don’t care, shame on you.
Joel’s mom usually handles some of this stuff she is usually on it. A simple correction of the size would be easy enough. Also…I have had some dealings with Joel and his family. They were straight forward and honest. I have nothing negative to say about the way they do business. It does not change the fact that he is a brand and brands have to act slightly different than individuals may. I don’t think he is a scam artist. He is just a guy attempting to further his brand. I have never seen much hype or lies told in any of his ads. Usually just straight surfing imagery.
I am not inspired in the slightest by most of the retro stuff or most of the noteable retro riders for the most part. However…Joel’s surfing is inspirational. The guy can do it all well and smoothly. He makes something hard look easy.
Slater is great…but Slater to me is not inspriing.
i think the mistake by surftech has nothing to do with joel and everyones oppinion of him.
surftech is who you need to deal with when you have a problem with surftech…no one else.
to say joel is this and joel is that is funny.
how many here have actually spent time with him.
how many of you guys know him.
to say what he is and how he surf is this bla blah blah.i think your all a little juelouse you dont have smooth gracefull style like he “lives it”
oh and some more marketing of not living it.
lol
to find the website go to the Surftech website, click on Joel Tudor, click the HPNR. They advertise it as 9.0, but they deliver a 9’4". The board even says 9.0 on it (it was measured from tip to nose off the deck allowing for the rocker).
Joel’s a good dude and not-so-well paid and anyone who uses the word “askance” is gay. Gay for Wayne Lynch apparently.

I know this was not directed at me…but yes…I have delt with him, his mom and his father and was all positive. The guy is a surfer. Period. Just trying to not have to take a normal job. I am sure many have that dream but can’t make it happen.
take it back and get an 8’ 8" model
Looks Surftech’s website could use some updating. From the Surftech website.
9’4" HPNR - A template designed off a longer egg shape, This high performance board can be ridden either as a thruster or single fin. Designed with concave for nose riding and a spiral vee through the fins. The board comes with a thruster set up for performance but rides equally well as a single fin."
Specifications LENGTH: 9’ 274.32 cm NOSE: 18" 45.72 cm MID: 22 7/8" 55.88 cm TAIL: 14 1/4" 35.56 cm THICK: 2 3/4" 5.08 cm VOLUME:
63cc FINS: Surf 10" TECHNOLOGY: Tuflite
I think the discrepancy probably should have been a red flag to inquire. Does the 4" on a 9 foot board that is supposed to be a nose rider really made that much difference. I think you would probably have to surf at Joel Tudor’s level to really appreciate the difference.
PIZZA HUT A SCAM!!!
Until now I was a loyal fan of Pizza HUT and their endeavors. Not anymore!
For some time I have been researching Pizza Huts “Mia” pizza. On Pizza Hut’s website they claim this pizza is a “MEDIUM” sized pizza for 5 bucks. i’ve also seen on tv commercials this Pizza Hut “MEDIUM” Mia pizza for 5 bucks. I ordered one and was totally excited about eating it. when it finally arrived, i set the table, poured a coke, and noticed something weird about the box… like was over stuffed or something. When i opened the box this large pizza came flying out of the box!!! the box said medium, but the pizza was clearly a LARGE!!! so i looked at the box again and it said it right there: the 5 dollar MEDIUM Mia pizza by PIZZA HUT??? I WAS FLABERGASTED!!! so i called Pizza Hut and they said “thats how we make em” how f-ing lame!!! they had to of known it was large pizza in a medium box, it came out of their kitchen. anyways i’d thought i’d share my experience. if you deal with Pizza HHuty…BEWARE!!!
Been there done that. What I want you to do is follow these simple instructions. Will you please post to this thread the exact web address of the exact Surftech webpage you claim to be quoting from so we can all go to the exact same webpage you claim to be quoting from and read it for ourselves. Thanks.

Chuckle,
“An 8’8”
more chuckle.
Gain 3-4" !!

Nice…it says 9’4’’ above the board and 9’ in the specs. Also…performance longboard? Look how flat that bugger is.
SCAM SCHLAM…JUST EAT THE DAMN LARGE PIE AND BE HAPPY ABOUT IT!!
We in Australia have always looked “askance” at Pizza Hut and in particular the pizza mia. Wayne Lynch makes a much better “personal pan” pizza and Wayne Lynch knows pizza and would never set foot into a Pizza Hut as Wayne Lynch only consumes food of substance and style fair dinkum you bet.
i wouldnt say “half as good”…maybe a little better than that.
besides, i would assume that a guy who rides proper pipeline on single fins
crazy big rock on whatever (bonzer, fish, single fin)
and huge blacks on 5’10 fishes (and 8’0 single fins)
is kinda living thru it right now.
but i’m just assuming here.
even though Wayne and Joel are good freinds, i remeber an article in a mag where Wayne was baggin on Joel
for riding single fins in modern day times, saying they didnt work then and they dont work now.
so why is he now pushing single fins again??

Had a great conversation with Wayne at a tradeshow one time. I disagree about what he said about singles in general…though I think I agree with what he is talking about. Those old style singles…for the most part with a few exeptions just didn’t work. I still think there are singles that are equal to thrusters in certain conditions…if not better.
All depends on what your looking for out of a surfboard.
I think you should confront him face to face and call him out as a scam artist. He will be in Virginia Beach on Saturday if you’re in area. Did I mention he is a world ranked Brazilian Jujitsu practitioner?
You bought a Surftech, if you were really that into getting a dialed in board you would have had one shaped for you. It probably rides great and will be pretty sturdy, quit bitchin. Frankly if I was to buy another noserider I would go for a 9’4" rather than the 9’ I have.
