Need help with fin placement for a big guy thruster with a swallow tail.
For swallow tail fin placement, should I measure from the butt crack or the tips of the swallow tail ?
The picture attached is the basic outline concept. Thanks in advance for any input.
The tips, for that one, I believe–standard thruster center fin trailing edge is gonna be at about 3.5" or thereabouts ?
Anyone else?
On Swallows.always from the tips,No exceptions…If the board is truly a “big guy” thruster the fin set I use w/ great sucess is 4" up from the tips on the center and 12" on the sides.
Of course Red-X or Lokbox fin systems would give you a lttle more room to play with.Herb

Herb,
Just the answer I was looking for. I’ve had great success with that placement as well, but I was confused as to where I should measure from.
Thanks! -matt

Herb,
your close. That picture is probably 2 or 3 years old. The hint is the dredging pipe at the bottom of the picture.
I know where it is NOW! …My wife’s grandfather, Commander Hardesty(flew Hellcats in the panpacWWII) served his last days in the Navy there.
Vern it is a nice wave and guarded by it’s locals when it’s on !
I heard about the tourist that was killed at the strands last summer, what a waste.
