Hello all, Lookin to make me a 5’6x19 3/4x2 1/4 swallow tail twin fin board, single to double concave. My question is about the twin fin placement. Do i measure trailer fin from tips of swallow or from butt crack? how deep should the swallow be if I want it to be in affect with the fin setup? (was thinkin 5" swallow from tip to tip). My regular fin placement for my other boards are: Center: 3 1/2. top fins: range from 10 3/4, or 11". 1" off edge and a 7’ cant, and 1/4’ toe. so… placement help needed, including toe, and cant. suggestions please!
I hope you get plenty of answers. Some applicable even.
Reality is, everything depends on the waves you intend to surf, your style, your stance, and your size. Just too many variables.
One factor I always looked at, after making about 50 twin fins of that same sizing.....look at the tail, imagine the amount of fin area you need, think of WHERE you stand on that board, and think how it's going to work. Never was totally wrong, but sometimes an adjustment is needed.
This isn't rocket science, instead, tis artform.
LeeD,
board is gon be somethin i can just bust out for slopey summer stuff. been lookin at a webber minifish, so something kinda like that but not as beefy. where should i measure from, tips of swallow or crack of swallow? I’m 145-150 lbs. @ 5’ 8". surf good.
