Hi Hans, good to hear you had a good time. The athmosphere in the water is better than before, but it is crowded and when there is a camera in the water…

Stay away from the camera. And laugh about the people that are agressive, the best you can do. I remember a guy saying:“I had 10 waves and on any of them there was someone dropping in.” I replied:" I had only one, please share", there was no answer…

Hi,

I didn’t had troubles with agression or catching waves, I actually rode more wave than I can count! Had a really great surf. No agression either.

But what I meant was that people seem more “accesible” where I usually surf. I felt like being in a big skatepark. While in domburg or in belgium I feel more like being in a pub.

By the way: I really enjoyed viewing the turtles in real life, they are even wider than I thought by viewing the pics!

Hi Hans,

that sounds good! Maybe we should do the Swayholland meeting next year in Domburg! Maybe we can be a part of the Domburg Classic next year. promote home shaping a bit :D

Eef

with a mini-event on homemade boards??!!

LOL!!

it was GREAT

thanks to EEF for getting this on the road!

and paul jensen was there too!! how cool was that?

let do it again soon [with waves!] in scheveningen we have got a nice FAST surfing playground we could use?

cheers and neptunes, thanks for the waves! we had a good time

i loved super turtly his creation! it ripped, really small board, great for power waves

and those fins… woohwiie sooooo light, lighter than my carbon g-amx!!

pity i didnt talk to most of you though!

wouter

Poor me telling everybody everything I knew and heard about your boards, but I enjoyed every minute of it. I had to do something while waiting on my board, isn’t Wouter, thanks for the compliments! I had my share in the morning and afterwards in the evening. Sooooo much fun on a little board, 5’6"x22.5"! It felt big so next one will be even smaller.

Domburg would be a great idea.

A fishfry in Scheef? Could be fun too, maybe this autumn? Only with waves!

Hey, tell us more about that asymetrical fish.  Did you  build it?  Ride report?  thx

Hi Greg,

Me and SurferDave shaped that board after getting inspired by Carl Ekstrom.Lots of fun shaping this one. We mixed three templates to make this 7’0 22’5 2 5/8. The rocker is also assymetrical were the shorter quad side matches the longer fish side resulting in real cool looking bottom contours. It has vee shaped in the first part of the board. Its made out of 30kg2 stringerless eps, double 6oz on top single 6oz on the bottom. Not sure about that fin setup but the approximate numbers for the fish side are 7’’ up from the pin 1 1/2" from the rail and towed 1/8", with a hair cant. Can’t quit remember what we did with the quad. Trailer is ? from the pin and 2" from the rail towed it to the nose. The front fin is ? from the pin at 1 1/4" from the rail and towed approx. 2.5" out of the nose. I’ll fill in the ? later if desired

So as for the ride report… The board was lots of fun but a real challange. The fin setup worked great though, backside real forgiving, front side it needed a lot of lever but after a few goes I adjusted and it went fine. cutting back on its frontside was a blast due to the shorter rail line: real fast. In a straight line on the flats it was quit turbulent. Catches waves real easy… on the steeper ones almost no paddeling required. Was able to smack the lip a few times on the quad (back) side… again real forgiving. Unforfunately the board’s a bitch to duckdive, had to let it go a few times and then the leash cutted in the rail ending my session…Aahh

So far I can say that assymatricals really work great. I’d change the rail and make it more neutral and round instead of a fishy down rail, I’d like to go shorter say 6’2, have a bit more rocker and a double concave trough the fins… tweak the keel setup a bit also

Mook

Oh yes and make it in compsand or with stringer!!!

Was really funky, and now we can tell folks that one guy did one side the other guy the other side!! LOL! Of course that’s not (exactly)how it was made but still, gets a few giggles…

mookstrom

Mookstrom workin on da fin positions…

I have yet to ride it, need to get the ding fixed and I also want to add a fin patch, this board was finished literally on the morning of the swayday so there is actually still some TLC to put in to it.

looking forward already, thinking 8ft minimal one side and MRTFX on the other?

Hola senor Dave,

The resin should be strong now, 7 days after lamming, I would like to have a try on it too. Is it made for goofy or regular footed surfer, I forgot, you know.

I think it is a good subject for the general discussion, yoou get more exposure like that! Jank in some nice pic’s and your the man!

Hola Sjoerdenpower!

I let you know as soon as dingfix is done!!

Mook and myself are “regular” footed so the idea was to ride “fish” toeside and “quad” backside.
