Swaylockians in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo? Surf spots? Anybody?

Hey there all my fellow Swaylock lunatics.

I posted this over on “Hookups” but nobody ever goes there…so here I am.

Any body got the inside scoop on Ixtapa?

In Ixtapa there’s a jetty break that can get fun. North of town, almost walking distance, is a left called Playa Linda. Nothing heavy, but can get fun. Troncones is close by, lots of beach break with some places having some gnarly rock formations that are kind of like mine-fields when you’re getting in and out of the water. But the place can barrel. What time of year are you thinking of going?

I think we are going to be there the 6-13 Feb.

We’re staying at the Club Med.

I don’t know anything about either…Ixtapa or ClubMed! LOL

Sounds like you have a great vacation planned.

Theres some good surf in the area so bring a board or two.

I’ll probably have to get a renter or beater when I’m there.

I’ll have the wife check into transport prices though, just in case.

Brind a couple of boards and sell them before you come home to the local surf shop!

There’s a swaylocker that has a shop in Zijuat, sister city to Ixtapa (Zijuat is the old Mex fishing town and

Ixtapa is the government-built resort next door). Try a pm to ‘‘Primer’’. He’s a long-time boardbuilder, too.

If my memory serves me correctly, the Club Med is toward the south end of Ixtapa. Long walk to the jetty.

Lotsa good waves short drives away. Playa Linda is mellow if you get tired of ass-kickings.

Well…considering I’m recovering from torn tendons in my left elbow and still trying to heal a broken rib…I think mellow might just be the call.

Although…I’ve never been known to back down…even if I KNOW I’m gonna get my ass kicked! LOL

Ixtapa Club Med is an excellent kick back place. The time of year you’re going is perfect. Very warm to hot, cooler in the early morning, balmy evenings, no sox on this trip.

I know this old thread but planning a surf trip to this area sometime soon, wondered if any of u guys / girls had been there lately? Thanx in advance for any suggestions.
