Sway's changes have people dropping out?

Hey, the recent revamp of Sway’s has a lot of people I know just dropping out. Maybe it is still getting fixed so it was at least as user friendly as before?

If not, I’m probably gone with the rest of them…

are they all backyarders on that other forum i dont think i want to stay here neither

Durring upgrades tere will always be a time period where a little pain is felt while working out the bugs. I hope you all decide to stick around as I would really hate for anyone to leave the site just because of some gliches that Mike has yet to smooth out, as even with the best planning there will always be issues to overcome.

I hope you guys/gals will hang in there as I am sure once you get a feel for the new site you will find that it is just as easy to navigate and is quite user friendly.

I guess what I am trying to say is that I hope you guys can be patient and stick around as it would be a shame to loose your knowledge and input/opinions because of the transitions/changes taking place. Mike (thank you for this) has worked very hard to make the transition to this new site as seamless as possible and to work out any issues any of us have been experiencing. Speaking from experience, it isn’t easy.

I will stop rambling now. But, please take this into consideration.

**Clar…thanks for the words…as you may know, I’ve shared quite a bit of knowledge over the past year and a half or so after stumbling upon Sway’s. It’s a really good site for us builders. I get PM’s from all over the world, and it is a great connect for us in the trade. **

I’ve spent a little time familiarizing myself with the new format in between shapes and painting throughout today and I can attest to your statement that the pain is a temporary inconvenience. I s’pose Mike had his reasons for the change although I don’t know why…I will add here, that the spellcheck feature in the old Sway’s really sucked…I’m actually quite a bit more literate than what the system indicated.

I didn’t like the fact that the avator pix disappeared…seems like some remained while others went poof? Don’t get that one at all. Anyhow…keep up the good work. Swaylocks is probably holding more clout in its deck of cards than anybody even realizes.

…time to spray a pin…Aloha, Adios, Ciao, A Bientot…DS

yea it is a lot harder to travel on this new site… its still worth it tho, and it brings up the old saying for me " IF ITS NOT BROKE DONT FIX IT" … really fits this situation…

Its just not the same.

Even canned tuna is not as good since they took the dolphin out.

But its really a shame that the archive posts and replies are all run together, you cant tell a quote

from its reply, seems a better job could have been done on this.

It makes, in some cases,sending

someone to the archives a bit of a crap shoot. All that good work of explaining things ground down to ‘pick and choose’,

confusion and deciphering. NOT GOOD!

Seems this site has the pattern of doing this to all the old stuff…it becomes a matter of ‘why bother’

if it doesnt have a life beyond a year or two.

…and look at those atrocious line seperations, I didnt do that, and can’t fix it in the Advanced Editor

Hey guys, ease up. In case you haven’t noticed, Swaylock’s is free service run by one guy (me), as a side project, with the donated assistance of several moderators around the world. I’m sorry the site changes are bringing you down, however they make managing & updating the site a whole lot easier for me.

This “aint broke don’t fix it” argument just doesn’t cut it. Maybe we should ask all todays shapers to go back to balsa and hand-planers.

Look, I understand your frustration. If Sway’s members are frustrated, I’m frustrated. One of the top goals for the site is ease of use. There are some bugs and features I’m still working out. It takes time however, so you’ll need to be patient.

If you subscribe to this thread, you can track my steady (albeit slow) progress on things. Please consider adding your feature requests/bug reports over there. Remember to ask nicely.

Otis, your requests below are noted.

first o f all thanks for your help on this free site… yes it seems you are doing all the work… i am glad the site is easier for you to run, even tho its harder for all the people who contribute… i am just trying to say i liked the old site better… maybe some day it will improve or i will get used to it…

I’m sure it has been a lot of work for you.

I wish you all the best and hope you get it all worked out soon.

Take care,

SD

I’ve seen the light! I’m putting back the bugs into my boards…I’ll charge extra for them of course, and I will also arrange a scale for fingeprints, pubic hair, and blood…thanks Mike!!

P.S.

We certainly appreciate all you do to make this site possible!

Thanks. It’s mostly my pleasure. Hey, where’s your avatar?

Hey Mike,

Strange world in which we live.

Just goes to confirm my lifelong belief that surfers are the most egocentric, self centred, me me me, selfish and head in the sand clan that one can imagine.

You are too much of a gentleman, but I would tell them , if they don’t like what they get for free, then go %$&*@ yourself and try and do a better job.

It is an interesting observation how afraid of change surfers are, which is a self perpetuating prophecy.

Good work buddy and the first, well deserved points to you.

Rocky

Thanks…I didn’t have the old pic as a file and kept coming up short…not that computer literate. I think I belong on the South Island of NZ reveling in nature with my dog never to be seen or heard from again…on the beach kinda style.
