I made my last board with System Three 2:1 surfboard eposy resin. I even covered it with Suncure resin. After about 7 months the resin is yellowing. The resin is holding up well, but it’s not pretty. Be warned!

Try some pigment in the resin and why the poly resin to finish it, you can do without, just bag the bastard there’s hardly any sanding to be done. If youre afraid of bagging try the other method (see the drawings I made)using plastic its easy. Let me know if you need some help/advice. Peter Rijk.
Unless you use the SB-112 which is formuled for clear use, the resin will turn yellow from UV. I always gloss my boards to be sure it has a protect UV coating. Suncure will cure with UV, but is the resin a UV inhibitor? I have not used Suncure resin yet. I made my last board with System Three 2:1 surfboard eposy resin. It yellowed even though I’ve dilligently kept it in a canvas sock when not in use. Suncure is nothing but Silmar plus UV catalyst. It’s UV inhibited and it works. I’ve used Suncure on other epoxy layups. Those Suncure / Epoxy combinations stayed clear.
Now you know why surftech paints, veneers or soft tops their boards.

I have seen some polished epoxy boards & was wondering how they were being done. Thanks for any info, Ray

Thanks > for any info, Ray You have to sand epoxy glass thoroughly in order for the polyester resin to stick to it. After sanding, you could probably use some of the less widely used glossing methods, like automotive clearcoat. I usually have to 2-coat my polyester gloss, just like most polyester layups, in order to fill the dips. Optimum might be one polyester layer plus one clearcoat layer. Automotive clearcoat is super at flowing-out to a hard flat-top finish.
