Brad is one of the best guys in this business, he could have gone out ago and been fine. but he gets up daily, heads to the shop and builds boards for the sheer fact that he loves it.
I remember in the hayday where he had that place wall to wall, floor to ceiling blanks. now its like 20% of that it was… if that.
Known Basham since when he used to glass boards in his mom’s garage. Used to be the No.1 Clark Foam supplier in the world. Nice to see people like Terry Martin or Phil Edwards getting a blank or two Things have changed over there now that they’re peddling boards, and not just blanks and glass jobs. Too bad the treatment Maurice got, for he was the one who had the new vision for the place, only to be usurped by those with ego’s larger, and visions smaller; I hope he kicks ass across the street in Kaysen’s old place.
i don't really know anything about the business end of things...........never was good at it either.
all i know is brad has treated me with the utmost respect, and as an equal...........what more could you ask for ........out of any person.his treatment of "me" reminds me of the old hannifin days in newport.
Herb, I can see similarities between Hannifin and Basham also. I am glad Basham is still there; he has helped loads of surfboard builders, he is the godfather of San Clemente. Still Maurice got the shaft in my opinion because of others small minded envy and jealousy, and Brad was ultimately complicit. Hey I wouldn’t be ghetto if I didn’t call it as i see it.
I dont even know what is going on with the old Kaysen shop… Its like some Wierd San Clemente surf swap meet. Boards from across the street…Hats, Rockabilly clothes, puka shell necklaces etc
No $#!t? Rockabilly and Puka shell? I'm on it. I'll pick up a pair of those awesome Chi-com Rainbow Sandals down the street while I'm at it. You know; the ones that cut the flock out of the top of your foot and wear out in six months.
