Teak Non Skid?

I was just wondering if anyone has tried laminating (bagging) a layer of teak, say 1/8" to 1/4" , leaving it unfinished on the deck, in place of wax? Sailboats have for ages used teak for non-skid. Could it be a adequate was replacement? It would look cool.

Nice idea IMO, don’t teak decks have a flexible glop between the planks to take the expansion and contraction of the planks ? Maybe lay up the planks by hand then? I could try 1/8th teak over 1/8th lightweight marine ply on one of my boards, I wonder if any eucalypts or other hardwoods would do instead of teak ? Would the teak planks be epoxied onto the layer underneath or screwed down with flexible glop undeneath as well?

Cool idea ! My friend uses west systems ,carbon fiber powder, for gaps or fake caulking …sands better and looks and holds up great.maybe inlay it for even cooler look?

Don’t you mean West systems Graphite powder ?
