Glad I’m not prone to seizures when I looked at this pic / video…

Howzit atomizedNice flames and flames have always been one ofmy special tape off jobs. I like that they are alost exactly the same and match. I like to tape off the whole board then tape off the flames and razor cut and pull the tape in the areas that the paint will be sprayedI know I waste a lot of tape but I use the cheap stuff for that and use 1/8th" wide for the flame tapeing and especially flames. The way you described it is pretty much the usual way I go about it. On PU, I can pinline the the flames by carefully running a black Posca pen along the edge of the tape and get fairly decent results. That doesn’t work very well on slurried EPS, because the ink tends to  badly bleed under the tape. So on that board, the flame where sprayed on the foam, and the pinlines had to be painted on the sanded hotcoat. The guy who ordered it insisted on the pins and was willing to pay. It took about 2 hours to mask the thing on both the deck and bottom of a 9’8" nosesrider.

Nice work,  I am not a big fan of flames. They are way over done. yet the work and craftsmanship are evident and That I do admire. On The other hand if someone was willing to pay enough I just could fall in love with doing a flame paint job on a Board.

Howzit artz, Well there re flames and then there are flames and some times I just go nuts and put on extra flame flickers and do hand pinlines because flames are not perfect when you watch a burning fire so I try to add some different techniques to them which makes them a little different. Found some pictures of some of my artwork and then bought an all in one printer so I could scan hem and post here but the darn thing wouldn't work right and neither of my computers would recognize it so I had to send it back and they are sending me a new one and then I can post some picsof some of my art work and flames.
