Tell me about Fun Guns

Im thinking this would be a good board to order. Maybe something like a Rusty Desert Island with a pulled in tail. Can someone post pics of some or just comment? Thanks!

I made one to surf a “longboard” spot, especially when it got overhead. Now it’s my go to board when it’s small too. Here’s the build thread-

i have a T&C board that kind of fits your train of though. i call it “8 ball”

its 7.4 x 19.75 x 2.75

its good for bigger mushy waves like “cliffs”, but it just poops out in the beach break.

IMHO, my suggestion is go at least 3" thick and 22" wide with some volume in the nose, but keep it gunny. this one was supposed to be my board for “longboad” waves when i wanted to be lazy… but its just a little too skinny for lackadaisical distractions. let me know how it goes because i still want a board like you describe.

also, i think, but maybe i’m wrong… this board would catch mushy waves easier if the thruster fins were parallel with the stringer.

but hell, it was a free board…

Wayne Rich (Santa Barbara) has a model called a Speed Foil. That Models is great for the Ranch as well as Rincon.

Rusty’s Desert Gun is also a sure bet.

Two great models two talented shapers!

Buy one of each.

Building one right now to replace this one, would ride anything from Mavs to Malibu.

so far, this has only been ridden in junky mush, as I don’t have a longboard, but it starts to light up in certain sections. 7’11’’ x 20 x 2-1/2’’

I like it…

where to buy??

That AG sure does look nice.

Gotta give credit for these long ‘‘shortboards’’ to Greg Loehr, back in ‘97-‘98 he made hundreds, if not thousands, of his "Millenium Boards’’ (8’6’‘-9’6’’ versions of shortboard templates). He’s been riding them ever since.

I have an 8-6 myself. Could be wrong, but I think the Desert Island came out the next year after Greg showed the Millennium at Expo.

check this one out.
