Templates...

I know that templates can be a really personal deal, but does anyone know where I can get some old-fashioned pin-tail, fish and gun templates? E-bay, shmee-bay. No luck there…

I would be willing to pay all the postage and whatnot for paper versions of anything like that that I could transfer to hardboard.

Thanks everyone. Feel free to tell me to piss off!

Heh heh.

Pm me I can help, and check the archives …lots of info on temps here.

and no I’m not going to tell you to piss off either…you have a good day.Herb

Try using APS 3000 software.

It’s a free download too.

Design your own shapes, and print 'em out full life size.

If you need guidance on dimensions, the archives are full of people discussing tail/nose rocker shapes, etc, complete with actual measurements.

Once you try it, you’ll be hooked… I sorta feel pretty lame copying other peoples stuff these days.

Wasn’t meaning I think that of you!

Just feels so good to have designed it yourself.

Heres the link: http://www.aps3000.com/

Take the time to go through the tutorials they offer, makes it easy.

I have several fish templates. Your’re welcome to any of them. Mike

goto the second page of this thread and scroll down 'til you see

a post by “Doc”. he has a three links in his post. the second one is

for the “Surfboard Design and Construction” book.

i got the template for my fish from there. it takes a little while to

measure it out but it’s a great resource.

there are also some other older '70’s boards in the book that are

explained.

good luck

Check out the resources under CAD design. I just started using my adobe illustrator to make templates (paper) and it works great. Took me a while to master the line tool, but great for flowing lines. They are not pre-established templates, but if you know the basic shape and dimentions that you want, you’ll end up with clean lines, a board that more than likely will work great, and you can call it 100% Knibbs.

Hi Jeremy,

you might check the “french cuisine” thread of “lob” in the archives for some great boards of the style you are looking at! And if you understand some french (even without, as it is just templates in the end) you might want to have a look at the shaping forum of “mes amis français” shaperoom.net. Again it is lob here who shares his lines. (http://www.shaperoom.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=637&highlight=template )

I hope Lob you don’t mind that I share the stoke and inspiration I always get from your boards and designs.

And Jeremy, as said before take this numbers and templates as an inspiration and adjust them to your ideas, weight and surfing style and you will get your own genuine design!

cheers Z
