I am looking for any Templates that anyone might have laying around. Mostly looking for Longboards and Gliders. All makes and models are welcome. Anything from the vintage days would be awesome but anything from as early as yesterday would make me just as happy. Am willing to pay if you are looking to make some money and the price is reasonable or if you just want to get them out of the garage or shaping bay. I can drive as far north as LA and as far south as IB but will also help with shipping if you are further. Please let me know and thank you for looking.

p.s. Am also looking for any old hand planes or jack planes that are in good condition and any other shaping tools. Military kid on a budget, so nothing to crazy. Thanks!
Thanks Soulstice! And here I was tracing out the boards with sidewalk chalk and just staring at them while mouth breathing. And thank God for letting me in on Florida’s greatest secret Home Depot. I was doing it all wrong and getting all of my masonite from Lowes. Im such an idiot! I will make sure to PM you on Life’s more challenging questions like basic subtraction/addition and where babies come from. Take care!
no shaper is going to just give you their stock of templates from the floor of their shaping bay. if you want to make a board and need a template, you’d be best off to make that, too.
if your goal is to get some tools on a budget, you’re best off to just go the HD route. those stanley surforms are cheap, and any old hand planes and surforms in good shape won’t be, assuming that someone is even willing to part with them… they just don’t make 'em like they used to.
and you have my most sincere apologies if you were offended by my subtle suggestion that if your goal here is to make yourself a surfboard that you stop looking for things that don’t exist and just go make a board… but by all means, feel free to continue your mouthbreathing and sidewalk chalking… with a gameplan like that, i’m sure a slick california military kid on a budget like yourself will have something surfable in no time.
The templates will be sent tomorrow. Sorry - they're just tracings on paper. You'll still have to transfer to Masonite, cut and fair them out but they'll get you started. With a couple of basic curves and some separate tail outlines you can mix and match for a lot of different shapes.
I'll see if I can fit a block plane or something in the package. I've shaped quite a few boards with a block plane and sanding blocks. Blade sharpening and just the right setting are key.
At the age of 15 whilst doing school work experience with a very well known ozzy shaper I asked if I could copy his templates to which he obviously said no. So being a cheeky grom, when he went to lunch I traced 3 short board quarter templates and took them home. Good templates, I still use them.
I have a template of a template of a template of a template of a Lis fish you can have. The Lis template you can have too if its for your own amusement and not something you are going to sell. Not saying Lis gave it to me. I lifted it off one of his boards. Mike
Thank you for all the responses guys. Greatly appreciate it. I do have templates here at the house. I am not asking to steal any designs, just trying to document as much history as I can.
