I’m hoping I can build a sturdier version of this that doesn’t take up too much space when not in use and minimizes setup effort. This works great until my wife opens the garage door to get a stroller and the plastic gets taken for a rip in the wind. I would like to incorporate some sort of temp walls, accordion partitions, etc.
@Bobsled you have a nice clean setup with the lights, thanks for posting a pic.
As @stoneburner posted, I have a greenhouse thing. It was just taken down to allow us to entertain and lounge in the living room once again. I used the overhead tubing to support a low profile LED overhead light and a slinky hose to go from planer to vacuum.
Bendheim Boards on YouTube- the older videos show a greenhouse enclosure in the corner of the garage. He has moved on to a shipping container in the yard, also nicely done.
I have also seen blue poly tarps used as wall. There are pole and zippered wall panel systems used by contractors to block off dusty area at construction sites.
@jrandy Are you still rockin’ the strip lights? Those look way brighter than the ones I started out with, but I recently bought these and they work way better than what I had… still lightweight and mounted to a board and hung like how you have it (mine are hung from my garage ceiling):
6ft per side is a bit on the short side but it’s what I have room for. There’s longer options too.
For “walls” I’ve been hanging medium-weight blue tarps from the ceiling… Nothing special but I wanted to mention it because at that weight or heavier, you can vacuum them as they are hanging without them getting sucked into the vacuum Pretty handy for a super temporary setup imo…
Yes, still using the same strip lights. I have a set that are 6 or 7 feet and another set that are 13 feet I got for doing longer boards. They are comparable brightness to one fluoro tube at 3 or 4 feet. I would say they look brighter in pics.
I think I’ve come up with the best solution for my space. Essentially just a big ass cabinet (6’x12’) that swings open to form the walls on either end of the bay. My drywall is hung on bullshit aluminum thus the overbuilt 2x4 shelves. Let me know what y’all think. Still need to figure out the 4th wall and roof that fits under the garage door opener.
First pic looks like a garage door. If you talk to your local garage door company, I’m sure they can set you up with a few. We used to use them to partition bays at the “Chicken Ranch”. Second pic looks like something you would hang plants on. Like a trellis.
Yeah I regret That I didn’t turn that 10 cents a square foot space into something more profitable up at the Chicken Ranch. But it was a lot more risky back in the 90’s.
