Hey how’s about trying out my new concept. It’s a shark cage made from “Slim Jims” meat sticks? Wadda ya think, will it work? I need a test pilot!!
Haven’t taken the “Ray” up to 56 yet. Not really my kinda scene up there. Not really sure what the vibe is there these days but back in the day (80’s) it was a total joke! It doesn’t have one sticker, decal, or identifying mark on it so I am not sure if the newport groms would recognize it as a surfboard.
Good point on the sticker comment. Resin tint? Opaque? Fin box?

That’s a really interesting offer, I think there would be a few shapers interested in test riders of intermediate to advanced ability. But you’d need two important attributes;
a bit of maturity and discretion ie if you ride an experimental shape and it doesn’t work for you - you don’t go around saying things like “yeah I rode one of those, it went like a shower of shit”
and a really good understanding of what you are doing on a wave and the ability to articulate what you feel and observe when riding ie “couldn’t find the sweet spot to drive off a bottom turn” or “couldn’t carve a tight arc on cutbacks without sliding the tail”
It’s a shame you aren’t in Victoria AU - would be interested in some feedback on some new stuff I’m involved with.
