Thank you Ben Chipper

Ben (Chipfins) and arranged for him to send me some fins late last year, and it took several months of mailing back and forth. I thought he was send a couple of fins, but when I got a package in the mail and I just couldn’t believe what he sent, he sent 12 sets of fins. Just unbeliveable.

Thanks Ben!!

I've had the pleasure of meeting Ben and can attest to what a great bloke he is - not to mention how generous he is.

I think Ben finds great reward in bringing joy to others - no matter who they are. Not many of these types left in this world.

If some of you Oahu Swaylockians want to try some of these fins, PM me.

the Chipster is Hawaiian at heart.

Oh, and he likes photography too!

Hey shark, i got a big box o fins myself from WA not long ago, got heaps now!. My fave's are 8 1/2 x 5'' keels for my 5'8''. Just need some small waves for them!

I agree with you Keith, very Hawaiian inside, but then Hawaiian at heart is really just another way of saying good christian values. You find it in most rural folks, where people in the communities take care of one another. It’s something that capitalism and urbanization is destroying.

Keith you are also very Hawaiian at heart, as many others here are.

Aloha, Harry

wow , thank you very much for your kind words guys !

I’m blown away , because , really , I get encouragement and inspiration here ! In particular from your brother Bernie’s incredible generosity , Harry , so I hope you can pass on some of the [fin] quiver to him too ?

And now , credit where it’s due … this package’s postage would not have been possible without YOUR generosity , Harry …I merely filled the box with the neccessary weight to cover the postage you so generously sent , so I hope you guys enjoy the different fins over a period of time …and , please … don’t be afraid to tell me how the fins can be improved in ANY way , because testing them in proper Hawaiian waves will provide me with much better feedback than my grovelling shenanigans [wave-wise] here

cheers!

ben

Hey Ben, surfs been pretty small on my side of the island since I had the fins. I took out my 5-10 board in maybe waist high using the 747 looking fins in a quad setup with the larger fins up front. The board was really loose compared to when it was a single fin, but the waves were so small, I had a hard time. I’ll probably play with the sizes once the waves get better.

Hoping to get better surf, but it looks like the south side is going to be small for a while.

I will check in with reports as soon as I have something to say.

Take care, Harry

thanks very much, harry !

always a pleasure to hear from you

have fun with the fin quiver, mate !

cheers

Hey Ben, here’s a couple of shots from when I first got these fins on my quads. The fins that are more upright tend to make tighter turns, more pivot like. I gave the yellow board to a friend’s son to use, and it may have had those fins in it. On the egg I now use, I have a standard FCS maybe M5 or G-AM in front and the glow in the dark 747s in the middle row in back. I like that setup kinda mimics a split old style twin keel.

The box placement on those boards used Robin Mair’s quad specs, and the front and rear boxes are closer together and out on the rail compared to Bruce McKee’s setup. Robin said he liked having the looseness of the quad versus the stiffer quad that the McKee or Alexander setup uses. My egg uses the same layout that my Griffin 5 fin fish has and the fins are spaced further apart than in Robin’s setup, but still out on the rail. I could add the center later if I choose.

ben,

do you need any glass offcuts to make some fin panels??

I have a couple of shopping bags full of offcuts i could send to you.

Ben, here’s a shot of the newest egg with the fins.

I met Ben randomly in the surf at freshwater beach, the birth place of Australian surfing, we talked like old friends but had never met. Good bloke!!
