...it begins , finally !
Thanks again for sending the corecell , Huie .....
two more layers 4oz...
mix pigment [25mls to 250 mls laminating resin , to get a red 'tint' happening , hopefully !]
5 layers in , red pigment [another 15 layers of red pigment to go ] ....
after the 15 layers of red pigment are layed up , then 15 layers of clear to get the lighter tint [total : 35 layers of 4oz cloth , layed up in batches of 5 layers at a time [7 lots of 25ml cups used ]...
As it was a nice 35 degree celsius day , I let the panel cure for an hour or two , before doing the filler coat ['sanding coat'] ...
After leaving the filler coat to cure for a few more hours , I prized the panel off the glass [ the good ol' trusty paint scraper came to the rescue again , eh ?!]
And , this is what it looked like when I flipped it over ....
[the more pulled-back view , without the camera and me reflected in it....
So , Huie , when I get some more cloth , I'll lay up the other coremat piece.
I'm thinking , as the panels are 5 x 7" , that I'll either make
two 4 1/2" x 6" - 6 1/2" keels ,
or ...
four roughly M.R. 'TX' sized fins , to compliment a set of three already existing red tint [corecell cored] M3-M5 sized [roughly] fins . These were previously glassed on fins , which I FCS tabbed a while ago ...
...to be continued....
cheers !

p.s. - while I had the red tint remaining , I also layed up two 4" x 6 " red tint / carbon fibre combo panels *, and another 4" x 6" red tint panel . I want to do another 4" x 6" red tint panel , so I will have two small , double foiled trailer fins for a quad setup , and / or as thruster trailer fins on two separate boards ...
* [ photos of these will probably end up on the 'panels' thread ]
