Ben,
Glad that stuff got there. There were two other setups we used. One with the small fins offset, but in line with the leading edge of the center fin. The other was with the small fins offset, near the rail, but about eight inches ahead of the leading edge of the center fin. Not bad stuff for 1971 eh? Sorry I don’t have photos of the other setups. Nice thing about those fins was that you could pop them in and out at will. No tools needed. Good Lord, I just did the math, that was 35yrs ago! YIKES ! Hope it got you thinking. (Hell, you’re always thinking.) Aloha.
Ben,
Don’t forget that sharing is good…
can I , Bill ?
…is it okay with you if I scan the stuff , and post it here ?
cheers !

[imagine sharing a photo spread with the likes of John Holly , Mike Hynson , Skip Frye , Billy Caster ? …that musta been a “stoker boker” for you eh , Bill ?!]
here’s the bigger version of the pic of Bill , at La Jolla shores , apparently …woohoo !
now , from about eight years later ,
here’s the fin systems Bill made …
I like the shallowness of the boxes …something I could do with in MY boards , to be able to keep 'em thin , and still have fins that moved forewards and backwards !
nice …
cheers !

I guess we can now take Simon Anderson’s name off the list of first’s
Bill,
thanks a million for sharing this stuff, especially that fin set up shot. I’m liking the tail shape on that board and nerdy though it is, seeing the origins of what we do is always exciting
