Just Wanted to wish my Swaylockian Brothers and Sisters a good Holiday season. Keep up the good stuff and thanks for believing in the Real Deal using ProBox Finsystems and great to get emails from people like this email I got today at https://www.facebook.com/Probox.Finsystem . Just wanted to share not everyone drinks the Koolaid from the marketing companies. Proud of you guys! Mahalo, Larry
Hi Larry—
I've always used the Bahne/FU box in my single-fins. I've been shaping and riding an asymmetrical single-fin design for a couple of decades now, but have almost always glassed the side fin on.
Lately, a buddy suggested experimenting with two side fins on one side. I've glassed them on each with a different cant. Now, I'm building a board for him with those plus a frontside side-biter.
I read about your Probox on Swaylock's.
They sound like exactly like what I'm looking for. I picked up a couple of FCS in the foam, but I hadn't done my homework and discovered when I got back to the shop that they go in before glass. I hate that idea. The FCS plug makes a good mount for a Go Pro, tho!
I'm stoked to find a box that will accept FCS fins that I can easily modify to my templates or build from my own lay-up. I'm even more stoked to have the ability to move "fore 'n aft"
AND easily adjust the cant. Not to mention routing them out through the hard, glassed shell rather than the soft, easily damaged PU foam.
I tried to find some locally to no avail, but Mitch at Becker Malibu suggest I go straight to you.
I'm a finish carpenter by day, so I'll call and order during lunch tomorrow.
Thanks,
JW
P.S. Your website is a welcome change. I could go straight to the info I was looking for.
I’d like to say “thank you” to you Larry. The 45 mins you spent on the phone with me giving me an education on fins is something I’ll ever be grateful for. Nice to have an individual like yourself that’s accessible and willing to give so freely of what he knows and enjoys. It’s only Probox for me. So nice in many ways. Thanks Larry!
With your system , I especially like the option [for home-made fins] of the [ different degrees of] cant inserts , and being able to allow a bit of fore and aft movement , too , with the 'one slot ’ setup …
"IF " I ever make another board , using the stuff that ‘sharkcounty’ VERY kindly sent me [including proboxes] , I’ll be glad to deck it out with a variety of fin setups , like my ‘prawn’ , and my ‘bushfire fish’ boards [ …from my chipfish61 days , here] had…
cheers , keep up the GREAT work and experimenting !
