Extremely doubtful. Oh, by the way, I have some beautiful land I want to sell you for $25.
In don’t think so, where did you get that info?Ofcourse there are the costs of their biz on the mainland(advertising, warehousing, office, sales, staff, tradeshows,Freebees, team riders, pr, charity, etc). When craftsmen become businessmen alot changes. Swaylocks is the home of the craftsperson and their fans. Read the Surftech factory tour article in Surfing this month- interesting!
you oughta get into that business. it sounds profitable. good for randy. with all that dough he will be able to retire and surf whenever he likes. kudos randy.
you oughta get into that business. it sounds profitable. good for randy. > with all that dough he will be able to retire and surf whenever he likes. > kudos randy. Naw, not my style, it seems like the real issues re: surftech type stuff are issues of centralized production and globalization vs. small businesses and yeoman/craftsperson production. When in doubt-I root for the little guy.Theirs is not the only industry/craft that is suffering thru’ this.
off the subject a little here but along a similar line.A friend of mine worked as a purchasing agent for Billbng 2yrs ago and told me that for the summer of 2000 the shirts they got from china cost them $3.60 (australian dollars) ready to hang with six colour screen printing front and back and logo on one sleeve.not bad when that year they retailed for $49.95. Now obviously there’s a LOT of cost involved to a company of that size marketing, sponsorships so forth and so on.But when it comes to big business thats the way it goes get the lowest possible price and sell for the highest the market will tolerate without drop in sales. Now while all the sheep out there follow the money surfers and support these companies nothing will change.Don’t begrudge people for wanting to make money.but if you don’t like what someone does don’t support them and look for business or individuals that work in a manner that you respect. They will appreciate your business far more than any fat cat.
well said. all i can say is don’t buy a surftech, but don’t look down on someone else because they have. seems from your tone you aren’t like that anyway, you were just making a point. thanks for sharing.

No. Has the local economy and families suffered? Yes.
