Anyone get a chance to check out the flick, The Drifter with Rob Machado?
Just got a chance to watch it and must say, AWESOME! Just curious to anyone else out there that has watched it, and might be able to shed some light on
this, but Machado rides this real short stubby board that is red/orange/yellow ISH. Being he is a Channel Islands guy, is this a biscuit model or something like
the Kelly Slater Wizard sleeve? I have no idea, but watching him ride that thing in overhead barrels is real nice.
Saw it in Wrightsville Beach earlier this week. Excellent film, afterwards Machado and Taylor Steele did a Q & A . He said it was a 5'-2" Biscuit- Amazing!
In my opinion that board sucks!it's slow ad hasn't got much control. And i mean ...Machado is riding it.....under his feet even the chair where i'm siting now would do a radical off the lip!
5’2 serious… man he rides that biscuit awesome. While most of us add a few inches for our Indo quiver, Machado shaves a few inches off. I had mixed views on the film.,. loved the surfing but would have liked more waves & less of the reflective stuff. posted my The Drifter review on my blog Byron Surf… I was curious to find out what Rob was riding, so am glad I found this post.
The inside of the DVD cover lists all the boards he rides in the movie. 5’2" biscuit for sure and two others I don’t remember. I haven’t had enough coffee to get up and check the case.
Riceburner were you at the first or second showing? Machado seems like a douche in person, not really all that stoked on having to do an autograph signing. It was a cool movie and very beautiful, it was cool to watch it with my friend who is from Bali, he was translating all the balinese for me and telling me where all the street shots were done. Taylor was very nice and friendly.
I reckon I’d be a real C#$T in person if millions and millions of people wanted something from me.
He is who he is draw your own conclusion.
he looked a bit tired, but think about it,
Premier
Japan
Rob Machado
I’m sure he really wanted to be there hey.
I dig the Japanese, but they are very, very intense!
Douche, yeah, thats understandable!
i’d like him all the same even if he told me to piss off. What ever.
Slater once told me to piss off after I snaked him at my local, he had already had every good wave out there anyway. Hes still the Best ever, and a bloody amazing person too.
the bloke has so much style and grace in the waves. , noy my typical type of fav surfer but he has some serious smooth style....and love how he rides everything and well...keen to see this one
me too Yorky, its not that I necessarily think that the stars are all well rounded characters in every possible way, but we may as well enjoy what they excel at, life would be boring otherwise.
