Talk about using all the available space! Who drew the short straw and had to build their board in the crapper ?
Looks like a fun time was had in that creepy looking building.

That my board in the crapper. It was the only place I could put a coat of epoxy on it without the dust. It was a shit ton of fun

I like the deeper swallowtail in this template
Building in the boat maker’s Mecca.
thanks dave, grant emailed me. apparently it’s set for august at the alley, featuring tom wegener, paul joske & paul jensen. a lot of wood wisdom amongst those three. i’d like to go, i reckon it’d be epic.
Awesome… Paul is the man !

Good enough that I’m making travel arrangements…
BTW: I’m looking for a travel agent…Seriously…Any recommendations…???..
oz workshops? where & when?
A couple weeks ago I did a five day workshop where everyone cut out all their
parts for their boards…It took way too long and they were tired at the
end…That tiredness carried forward the following days…For all future
workshops I will provide pre-cut, guaranteed to fit, guaranteed to assemble fast
and accurate frames…The time saving is significant and can allow for some
design discussion about how to really create the lines, instead of cutting out
thin plywood with a knife for hours…
One other thing I discovered during the workshop…It is possible to put
together the deck and bottom skins, assemble the frame, discuss design, AND get
BOTH the skins on the frames the first day…In the past the final skin went on
the second day, which meant we couldn’t put on the rails until the third
day…Now we can save a full day…That’s huge…
As I see it, here’s how the schedule should work…
Day 1 -
Layout the wood strips for the Skins
Laminate both Skins
Assemble the Frame
Discuss design
Attach both Skins to Frame
Day 2 -
Clean up excess Skins from Frame
Laminate the Cork/ Ply Rails to Frame
Day 3 -
Shape Board
Sealer coat on Board
Day 4 -
Laminate Board
Build Fins
Day 5 -
Brush on Sanding Coat
Venting
Clean-up

Paul;
Hope you will be bringing your course to San Diego, or at least close enough that I can commute to it.
if you are still looking for a travel agent send me a PM as my girl friends mother is an awsome travel agent and is great to work with (She is located in the Bay area).
Just wanted to say how much you boards are works of art. I am sure you don’t need me to toot your horn but I could just sit and look at the darn things for hours.
