Started a tread “My episode without a Skil 100!” that wound up in the sin bin.
Since then
#1. The surf got good.
#2 Busy with the day job and with boards.
Finally got this board done.
Side note:
My short boards have been influenced by GG and I embarked on a journey into relaxed rocker. Hum still working on it.
Long story short, I am indeed an “Olphart” but I grew tired of cruzing my 10’-6”.
I began thinking back to the day of the Morey Pope and the John Peck “penetrator”. A board that has been ignored (IMO). 1st “down railer” (of sorts) and a proponent of something I value, tail rocker with low entry rocker.
A run thru the blank catalog and ordered a US 9-9 B “RED” add ¼” base wood stringer blue glue and tail rocker + ¼” @12” Tail.
Cut it up and added blue glue lines 1st try at something this long, learned a lot.
At this point started the tread “my adventures without a Skil planer”.
Gezz! Just didn’t want to use my sweetie to buzz glue.
Well damn it! Cat comes along, loves my blank, well I don’t wanna give it up but, yeah I’m a whore. However “you’ll have to live with the blemishes if you really want this blank” , he sez he can surf, I hope so!
Finished info;
9’- 6” x 18 3/4” x 23 1/4” x 14 1/4” x 3” 16.5 LBS.
Glassing Vector net 227 lapped + 4oz. D bottom and 3,2,1 4oz D deck.
Tried to keep the volume where it is needed, EZ tucked edge nose to front fin and hard finish.
Set up as quad (my way) with no mercy box.
I’ll get back to my next slider soon!
I might add that without the help of Oneula, mako224, (edit Barry Snyder!) and many other members including the fountain of stoke ,Huck and endless Aloha of chrisp this stick would not exist!
Thanks for lookin’ in….
