Pat uses battens between points, which is another old shipwright’s method. The masking tape method is a variation on that.
Funny I had Old and in the Ways CD in my truck the last few days, truly a great band.
Its really not very complicated, people!
It’s really not so much our way either, is the thing–people are just too lazy to tape the temps together, is the only thing I can figure.

I’m not sure what that means- taping the templates together. The tape is just another form of batten to bend a curve.
Go down to your local surfshop. All those Chinese boards come packed in cardboard … some 10’ long.

No I mean if you just print the things out using the print function in the program, it prints on your normal printer paper, and then you arrange them on a straight line and tape it up–and then you have yr template. People are stuck on using one big piece of paper, and with any care at all, you can just arrange the pieces along a straight line in your house and be done with it before you would have arrived at Kinkos or Staples–the best program I’ve seen prints the pieces on a grid so it’s even easier.
um
and
You have that? Did you draw that last round noser I saw with it? Copy me?
Ummm, okay. Exactly, I think…
I’ll admit that writing is a second (or third) language to me, so maybe I was unclear? The method I described involves 0 trips to Kinkos and no printer, or even a piece of paper.
Sort of a straight from the heart approach…
ps I’ll also admit to a strong bias towards a simple, straightforward approach and the use of handtools. I like to imagine how a Shaker craftsman would do it.
yuh i think so
and this puppy the my homedepot(mitre ten over here) jobby shaped it last night at 1 in the morning in my underpants
No I meant would you send me a copy of it by the usual method whateveer that might be? And that last post needs a rocker shot!?
Al, we’re having fun, I promise you, and uh, that about says it.

oh yep the one for angus
feed back good so far
ill dig it up and send to you pm
If you go back to Kinkos ask for either a “blueline” (blue ink) or “blackline” (black ink). These are done on a blueprint machine and will be cheap. What you got was a print from the plotter… the most expensive option at Kinkos, and total overkill for a template. The plotter can print millions of colors at 1,200 dpi. Use one of those if you want to print a giant photo of your girlfriend.
