"The Kritter " small wave sled with flat deck....

This was a custom I recently shaped for a guy who has got several of my shapes. He is open minded and trusts me so it is really enjoyable and refreshing when designing his boards, it also allows us to explore new things and or different combinations and variations but all the time concentrationg on achieving certain performance qualities from the overall design as well as discussing each individual element, it has been a good process.... With this one he wanted a small wave slab that was going to be a good paddler, very fast but still turn well ( same as we all want hey ? ) but he wanted to use a big raked set of twins he had ( from a webber mini-fish he had sold but hung onto the fins ), but he is also a fan of quads, so we designed it to be set up as either a twinny or quad..the twins have 3 tabs so it meant the front set can be moved forward or back ( when used as a quad ).. I have been making quite a few diff small wave shapes and trying alot of different theories and designs, this one we did a falt deck to retain alot of foam so it will float really well, the rails are quite low but not bladey, still kept a bit of meat in them but quite soft and forgiving until the back thrid anyway.....I could go on forever, best to just take a look...feedback has been excellent and he has been riding it in some decent sized waves too.....

dims are 5'7" x 20 5/8" x 2 3/4" , full single concave, glassed 1x 4 bot, 2 x 4 deck....

Heya Mark! Yeah, thats my new board right there…I’m having so much fun on that thing.

Its a great ride this one, great to paddle, very fast off the mark with the volume, planing area, and low rocker. The turning sensation I would describe as forgiving and responsive at the same time, I really love the flat deck and how it combines with the rails and curves. With the low swing weight and round curves in the tail of the board its very easy to throw around into tight arcs. It was very slipperly and skittish as a twin, which was fun for a certain mood, but I’ve been having the most fun surfing it with the quad fins (SF4) in the rear-most tabs.

The quad fins pulled back give it quite a bit of range too. I can surf it in most waves up to double overhead, its really user friendly on late take-offs, and it has the hold to be surfed nice and hard as well.

Even though I have another new board of Marks that I was really really enjoying, this one has taken over for the past month or two.

It rides like the average surfer’s wizard sleeve, great fun
