Has anyone tried the new Aerialite cloth that is supposed to work better with epoxy? If you did, did you notice any significant difference? Just curious…
It’s good stuff for hand-lam. Fiber ‘‘finish’’ can be tuned to work with specific resin systems, that’s what this product is about.
Plus, you’d really like the Aerialite guys, they frequently provide free beer at their trade-show booths and can answer your technical questions while they try to get you drunk. Dr. Rob Whitehead (resin chemist/Greenroom) is usually around too.
Thanks Mike. Aerialite is my favourite cloth to work with. It’s also the hardest to fray that I have used and some cloths just fray and that’s about it. I read that (their?) epoxy will chemically bond to this stuff but the first question I wondered is what about the bond to the foam? Now maybe the Aerialite guys could provide some feedback from their test riders on how it actually surfs in comparison to their normal finish cloth laminated with epoxy. Are the boards lighter with the new cloth, lasting longer etc?
