Was in a shop on the weekend in surfers paradise and was
shown the new K2.1’s which were made of Blue nylon outter
membrain and the composite inner which ran from the tip to
the tages. Also noticed that the tages have been modified
in readyness for the new tag/plug system which should be only be a short time away,on the outter sides of the tages
there were semi-circle recesses for the new grub screws to
fit into. Very good idea as the screws only hold the fins in place and apply no pressure to the tag, which is what happens with the old tages the new plugs should be great
plugs are being made by a new manufacturer there trade mark
is located near the grub screw, so that would mean they might be making the new plugs the logical way to go and I think they would still be twin plugs so they don’t have to retool every boardmaker in the world. The design change in the plug are just in moving the screw from the centre of the plug to the left and right so you have a front and rear
plug for each fin. The new nylon fins in K2.1 seamed quite
rough for the finish on a fin which would possibly create
Thanks Finkfection, sure we’ll see some photos soon.
The thing about the twin plugs is something they defend further, not just for the tools. I suppose it must have something to do with the flex of the board or things like that.
I remember the “contact” bindings in snowboarding where the flex is more important and more noticeable, and you won’t see a lot of them now is the snow.
