Thanks for the encouragement Ray - Here’s the latest…
Here is a “tool” I made years ago to poke holes in xps. I used it again on the deck of this one, as the xps I took to Michuacon got one bubble under my right hip/ass bone/ball of front foot… Saw it in the pre dawn light of my shack, poked a hole in it w/my knife, heard the gas “pppffft,” and it’s been fine ever since.
Here are som pics of the lamed board - Should be self-explanatory (as far as nose/tail, deck/bottom.).
It is fun to watch the assembly of the blank, the innovative design ideas and the material tech you used. "Out of the Box' for sure yet totally functional.
I'm no 'big wave' specialist but know enough from personal experience to understand the advantages of a good paddling board with some nose boost and pulled in tail. It looks like the type of board that will handle just about anything. The tuburcle fin is extra special and again, perfectly functional the way you incorporated it in to the overall design.
Now get to feeling better (soon - bigger swells are due any day now) and put that beauty through it's paces. I would love to see some pics of you on some good ones.
Love you Man....defy convention. Betcha the board flies. And I love the original art work. Did ya see your logo on the Plaskett board? Hopefully with my son is Seattle now we can surf your breaks in the future.
No worries about the carrots… I was lamenting the information that they may not be so good for me.
I missed the board/art work - got picture? Is it the one w/the green rails? I think I see “my logo” on it… Ha!
I am looking forward to trying the board in the not to distant future…
It speaks to me that I’ve felt motivated enough to spend the hours I do, sweating it out in the shed… Had a good few hours of sanding last night… ready to edge, and finish coat… Letting it cure in the “hot shed” as I write…
Let me know anytime you’re coming through… I’ll come meet ya in the valley if needed. There’s always room on the floor/air mattress for ya.
My wife has some health issues. Today, with tears in her eyes she made a very powerful statement. It's not an exact quote but it went something like this...."I am so sick and tired of people telling me what to do...!!!!!!!"
I agree with my wife.
I find your work refreshing. Get some waves or go for a walk on the beach with your wife. Check in from time to time.
Not for Nelscott. May try some day, but waiting around for a ride on a stinky ski, to sit out side with a bunch of people I don’t know with ski’s running around isn’t my first choice. There are a couple places I’ve been out on the biggest days I’ve tried (16’@16"), little success, some broken boards, leashes, etc… I working towards more success.
Thanks Ray - I hear her. And having fun is key… I’m still challenged by my own mind set - other than this health set back, I still have a burning desire to push my limits.
Ambrose - In one of the “multi-verses” I’m already looking out my tent at the crack of dawn over Port Allen, and the Poipu hills in the distance… Love ya man. Thanks for the aloha.
