A panel, in the future, is a definite possibility. Also considering a limited size, ‘‘advanced class’’, for more experienced shapers.
I woulda gone if I coulda gone, but it woulda costa mea bouta few thousand bucks (air, accoms, lost sales time, food, drink, etc) when all said and done, and the Aussies etc the same is true, but more so, so, anyone gonna share their most interesting data?
and possibly for more beginner oriented content, I was thinking it would be nice to go through the complete
process from rough blank to lamination with a discussion and Q&A at each stage in the process.
I would have loved to watch yourself or Jim mow a little foam…or Dennis, LeeV, Keith, John for that matter.
Thanks again Bill for a great workshop! I guess I missed this thread and posted my thanks to all on the previous workshop thread. What an enjoyable afternoon spent with the most amazing boards ever created, some of the best shapers to ever mow foam and a room full of Swaylockians. It was my kind of crowd. Hey Mr. Ryder, any chance I could get a copy of the template you used for the stubbie quad? I spent the whole day drooling over that thing. I gotta have one! Looking forward to the next event.
Alex
I think - given the age - the next ones should be a live pod casts, and made available on line for those of us to far off to participate. Heck, some day it could be a live interactive affair, and the Aussies, et. al. could ask questions, live, from around the world. And, Chip wouldn’t have to beg for pictures… Please!!!
Interestingly, SHF has access to a portable shaping booth, and has talked about just such an event. I’m not sure it is practical for a group even half the size of the recent workshop.
I had a great time. I thought the Surfing Heritage Museum was AMAZING. Although I do think that there should be more focus on fins, shaping tools, shapers and surfers. The museum does a good job of displaying the history and evolution of board design, but I would like to see a history and evolution of fins, tools, surfers, shapers, etc.
Nice to meet you Bill.
