Hey Brett - I’m glad you pointed that out. There are a lot of other folders here besides General Discussion, and yes, the moderating tends to be much more lenient. Plus, just a lot of good information. Not only archives, but surfshop, errors and bugs, industry talk, etc.
If you cursor over the “discussion” tab above, you can see most of them. But archives doesn’t show up until you actually click the discussion tab, which brings the full menu up. If you post in archives, you can keep the thread going, but it stays in archives.
Occasionally someone will get a thread re-invigorated, and I’ll move it over to General Discussion, to see if its going to take off. But if it dies out, then I put it back in archives.
Case in point - the thread on pouring your own blanks, a subject that seems to rise and die every so often. A poster named Some-Guy promised he was gonna go for it and post pictures. I put the thread over in general discussion for awhile, I think he got a few responses. Then, as usual with all those pour-your-own-foam threads, it died out without any sense of closure So, for now, its back in archives where it started.
On the R.I.P. threads - I leave them in General Discussion until they fade back a page or two, then I put them over in the Memorium folder. That way they are all together, and easy to find if anyone wants to add something later, or re-read.
Errors and Bugs is kind of a catch-all for miscellaneous stuff. I think Huie, Ambrose, Marsh, Rooster, TaylorO and Beerfan are about the only ones who have figured out that its just kind of an underground forum over there - maybe a couple others.
Swaylocks surfshop is for discussing things that are for sale. Right now, the surfshop classifieds are down, part of the current glitch. But anyone can still post up in the surfshop folder to advertise something surf related.
Quiver is an awesome resource, although its been down too for awhile now. Swaylopedia glossary is kinda cool, and there is lots of room for guys to share their knowledge and expertise, if they are so inclined.
General Discussion is in many ways the public face of Swaylocks, but there are all kinds of nooks and crannies off the beaten path, for those like yourself, who are curious enough to poke around a little.
So while we are at it; What’s up with the Surf Shop??? One thing is that I haven’t seen any new posts for Surf Shop on the Home page side bar since Sways had all the login trouble a month or so ago. I posted a new add and it didn’t show up on the home page, but did show on the Surf Shop link. Anybody else noticed this, because I have not heard a single comment about it. Lowel
Hey Lowel I’ve mentioned this a few times lately - surfshop, the classifieds, do not seem to be working at all.

If you got an ad to show up, you’re doing good. The most recent ads I see are from Nov. 2012. I have suggested posting in the “swaylocks surfshop” forum, listing anything surf related for sale. I tried posting a trial ad in the classifieds, it acted like my ad was accepted, but it never showed up.
