Thin Hotcoat, can still feel texture of weave

Hello swaylockians,       I applied a poly hotcoat today that I must have brushed on too thin because when it dried I could still feel the texture of the volan glass underneath.  I applied the hotcoat evenly and the board is definately water tight but I am scared that when I sand it, I will get burn throughs everywhere, especially near the laps.  Any advice on sanding a super thin hotcoat such as the one described?  I am sanding the board to later apply gloss.  I assume I just need to be really careful when sanding but thought I would ask anyway.  Thanks everyone.  Surfs up!

Me, if I had your concerns, I’d give it a light hand sand with 150 or 180 grit paper, and apply another thin coat before final sanding.

Volan, or any heavier weave clothes require thick Hot Coats.

Should have instantly did a second one.

Before it dried.

Yeah, sand then re-apply more.

Tis the season for thin Hot coats.

Nicely heat-thinned resin.

Thanks guys, I will do that.
