What’s the thinnest 9’6" longboard you may have successfully shaped? I know most people shape them atleast 3+" thick, but do tell…
What’s the thinnest 9’6" longboard you may have successfully shaped? > I know most people shape them atleast 3+" thick, but do tell… I didn’t shape it but I have an older 9’6" Yater that is 2-7/8" thick (shaped when Yater was under the Santa Barbara Surfshop lable). The board is also lighter foam and glass job than I would prefer but it is really manuvarable and good at goping around sections (but not through them). Real good board when I want to surf a longboard but don’t want to lug around a heavy cruizer. It dings easily though thanks to it’s thin glass job. I’ve been thinking about getting it re-glassed actually).
9’8" X 2 7/8" and 9’4" x 2.5" I like the way the thinner boards ride, and would even shape a 9’ 6" or bigger down to the 2.5" range but I usually build my longboards with the intention of selling them down the road and some my personal preferences can be hard to sell. Also the thinner you go the easier it is to break the board… Matthew Weaver>>> I didn’t shape it but I have an older 9’6" Yater that is 2-7/8" > thick (shaped when Yater was under the Santa Barbara Surfshop lable). i shape an 8’4" mini longboard, mostly for women, at 2 5/8" thick. i love the sensitivity and feedback from these at this length…
Sooo, on a 9’6" board shaped at just 2 3/4" thick, what glass job would you guys require to prevent excessive heel denting, but remain moderately light.>>> What’s the thinnest 9’6" longboard you may have successfully shaped? > I know most people shape them atleast 3+" thick, but do tell…
