thinner nose on longboard

JUst finished my first long board and lokking back at it just noticed that the nose is kinda thin any idea how this will effect nose riding

     thanks cain

thin or narrow? in either case depending on the rest of the board characteristics you might be just fine.

My 10’6" has a narrower nose than my 9’0" and the 10’6" nose rides better. Depending on the rest of the board and how you nose ride the nose may not even be in the water.

Tell us more about your board (dimensions, rail shape…).

Can you post pictures?

imagine how the nose will flaten out with your weight on it. trimming machine.

… get it glassed and try it out and you tell us how it goes…How thin is thin? Maybe the board that you are comparing it to is to thick? My one and only longboard is a performance hydro hull 9’-0" knock-off, it’s got a pretty thin nose by most log standards but nose ride just fine… My 6’-8" round nose twinzer can handle a good nose ride from time to time and it a has a super thinned out nose area… I think it all has to do with the rider. Go for it!

The board is an 8’11’’ with a really wide really wide nose around 17.5’’ with a strighter outline with a little narrower tail block was going for 50/50 rails but i think i took the outter rail band down to suddun so im going to try and back and work it out hopefuly will be able to work them out right know there at around a 60/40 rail that pinches off toward the nose and tail. the nose is really wide but narrow. ill post pics toady around lunch.

                                                                            thanks cain

If this is your first board, you’d be shocked as to how much thickness glass adds! I really thin out my short board noses, like to 1/2 inch sometimes, and they turn out looking thin, but not like “Oh Shi&, look how thin that thing is” after its glassed. On a long board if you did 6, 6x6 glassing plus hot coat, plus gloss you might add about 1/8 inch to the overall thickness. It is a noticable difference. If your nose on the long board is about 1 inch, you’ll be pleasantly suprised how perfect it looks…Unless your looking for that 60’s look.
