Thoughts on our values

This is all I am going to post on this subject, but in my opinion and given the circumstances I feel it needs to be said.

Our initial request from congress to go bomb Iraq was 79 billion (thats billion)and it’s gone much higher since then.

A local Church in my area spent $120 million to build a church building

Our initial offer to help the poor people of the south pacific that have suffered from one of the worst world calamities I have ever seen was a whopping 15 million and that has recently been pushed up to 35 million. I hope I read wrong or something.

Thats million not billion

In other words we spend more money on church building and killing than we are willing to on human suffering. I am still holding out hope that we will right this, but initially our values could use alot of work.

Spain offered 68 million

Germany 27 million

Australia 7.6 million

We are the richest country and claim to be one of the most moral. No one needs to give more money or man power than we do.

I am not trying to be a downer here. I want to see my country and it’s people do whatever is within our power to help these people.

Call your congressman and give what you can afford. I hear it’s not food they need over there it’s clothing, medicine and pain killlers.

Take care

I doubt there’s a way to assure the money gets beyond the retirement fund of all the little ceasars. I think it would just be throwing money away personally.

The money values pretty much represent supplies not actual cash. They need supplies not money.

Screw the cynicism, here’s a charity that I guarantee will get your donation where it will be used to maximum effect…waves of compassion

Let’s not confuse a paltry initial figure thrown out by our government with the values of Americans… 2 navy battle groups + C130’s are enroute to the area, private donations are growing (perhaps the most telling indicator of our values as a group) and the Gov is at least adding something more to the kitty. Interesting side note: some of the southern states with the lowest per-capita income have the highest donation rates…hmmmmmm

7/10

BTW: when I heard the 15 mil figure, I couldn’t believe it either.

Solosurfer(real identity please),

Please honor your commitment to post no more on this subject. The first was too much, and out of place on this forum. Stay on topic. Surfboards, and surfing. Thank you.

It is out of place on this forum…
