Bill’s idea. Mutant frankenwinger surfs like 1974, despite the 5 fins.
This board rudely refused to snap in two, despite my best attempts.

bruce brown seems to have an affinity for snapping boards in two (although usually involving a car)…let him have a whirl.
Start a bonfire and sacrafice it!!!
Got pics of the bottom?
burn it? not ecologically sound my man… have to ride it till it snaps!
quite right. i speak, then i think.
thanks for the pics
I saw Keith laughing with a maniacal look in his eyes as he flipped the switch at the same time thunder hit the lightning coils and the board groaned as the gorilla® glue cured.
Thats cool the coloring job. The board turned out nice.
hicksy’s logo is getting good mileage … that’s good to see !!
well, if no-one else will ask , I’M interested , at least …
how does it ride , please, Keith ?
cheers !
ben
Hey Ben - it paddles well, takes late drops. It’s a bit sensitive to fore/aft weight changes… easy to sink the tail too fast. Once I figured that out I was actually able to surf it fine (at first I was stalling out all my turns). Overall very much a flashback feel, not really like either a longboard or a shortboard. Trim from the front, weight back (but not too far back) to turn. Once a stinger, always a stinger… anybody who wants to take it for a ride (or a road trip) is certainly welcome to.
Cost of construction: 2 broken board parts. 1 strip balsa. Some 8oz glass from Ebay ($10). A rusty can of resin I was going to throw away. And a 1/2 of a carpenter’s pencil.
(the fins are held in the fin boxes by wedges made from a carpenter’s pencil. Couldn’t find the screws… thanks to Oneula who sent me the “Sways Inspired” laminate of Hicksy’s design. This seemed like the right board to put it on!
On a beautiful Sunday that I’m stuck indoors at work on, nothing makes me happier to see the Swaylocks crew getting silly with the boards. That thing is a horror, Keith and Thrailkill, you’ve made me happy and if get south in the near future I will most certainly want to borrow that thing. Thank you gents, and keep debasing what the high end glossies consider to be surfing
…I spoke to my brother last night, and finally got to ask him how the "moonrocket jet bottom " single fin he’s got goes …
his comment …
“it doesn’t …the tail sinks. You’ve got to stand forward to make it even work . Not enough area / foam in the tail because of the radical triple stings / wings …”
interesting …
it sorta confirms what you’re saying , Keith …he also mentioned the slowing down through turns thing . [I always found my stinger to be difficult to ride , too]
Thanks, Keith, for the feedback , please let me know if / when you have some more surfs on it , and anything else you learn , regarding how to master the cesign . [I do have an article “how to ride stingers” in an old surfing mag of mine somewhere …just have to remember what issue of ‘Surfer’ that was , won’t I ?!]
cheers !
ben
I CONFESS ! I planted the SEED, but Keith nurtured it, and made it grow. It’s all HIS FAULT!!
yeah , I blame hicksy for weird shit all the time […and , he reciprocates willingly !]
Please show us the FINS, Keith !
…cheers !
ben
Whatever happened with this beast?
I’d be keen on giving the one above ago if you would be so kind as to bring it to the fish fry.
Cheers.
…depending on the thickness of the tail of course , Keith …
but would you consider grinding off the back fin , putting in a fin box , and moving the back fin back in the box ?
how far up ARE those side fins , by the way …it looks like a LOT !!
cheers ,
ben
OR…
plan B …
grinding the tail so that back fin is closer to the tail pod …like thruster measurements , maybe ?
Rhino, that is the same “board” or Frankenboard as in the pictures at the top of the thread.
For anyone who went to the recent Cerritos seminar and heard Ace speak - the tail of this used to belong to an Ace 9’ longboard.
If I make it to the fish fry I’ll try to remember to toss it in the truck.
