I have an 8’ hybrid/funboard with thruster fin setup, currently with big FCS G-R fins. What can I expect if I chance the side fins with smaller ones or do the opposite, keep the side fins and put a smaller center fin? I’m mainly interested in making the board user friendly in smaller surf, not for overhead stuff. I’m 150 lbs, with very limited skills, if that might be a point of intrest in choosing fins. Thanks, Gonz PS. Do not tell me to save my money for something else, I have a piece of teak-veneer in my hand and I’m planning to make some fins anyhow, just need to choose the size.
Smaller side fins make rail to rail transition quicker but you may give up a bit of drive. This set up is better for hollow conditions. Smaller back fin will loosen up the board and let it plane easier. Your giving up hold though. This set up is better for mush.
