tint over balsa stringer?

So I have this blank that I’m making this wide shape from - too wide for the blank so I inserted an inch of balsa between two hardwood stringers. I want to tint the bottom with transclucent and the deck/rails is going to be opaque…here’s the dilema - the balsa is going to be very pourous and ~I fear it will drain when I lam it - If I do a cheater coat on the balsa to prime it with clear resin is that going to cause me a colour issue with the tint? or will the colour of the trans tint be ok over primed balsa???

Any advice from experience would be greatfully recieved.

Cheers

Sorry,Double post

It’ll be fine.  Tape right at the glue line and cut the resin with 25% styrene so it soaks in and doesn’t sit high.  Brush on, let it sit a minute, run the brush over it again then sqeegee off. Pull the tape immediately.  Repeat on the other side.

Hey Gene, thanks very much for the tip - that’s set my mind at rest…many thanks.
