to replace fcs plug or not

Here’s the thing.

someone comes in with an fcs plug problem: the tiny little plastic in between grub screw and fin is now gone.

got two options:

a. route out the fcs plug and install a new one.

b. make a bridge to replace the “thin” plastic part of the plug and add 2 layers of 4oz over the plugs to make the bridge thicker…

pros and cons?

definately option a !

Have you ever glassed over FCS plugs? I did, bad idea.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I glassed over the X2 type plugs, the glass doesn’t stick to it.

thanks! yes, i tried that before and it wasn’t pretty afterwards…

Convert to ProBox or Surfsource’s Standard Fin System.

Probox surely for the win!.. will start out with my personal board when it comes, so the others would be able to experience it…

but for now, people are very picky with ‘their’ choices… haha

hi, if the board is older and not worth the time to route out and refit another plug i have succesfully drilled a new hole on the other side of the plug and put in another grub screw , so  in effect its  like the  rear plugs,

just find a drill size thats a tightish fit in the original grub screw hole , i placed another drill in the original hole just to give me an angle visual to drill to , the plastic is soft enough for the grub screw to cut into, job done , pete

drilling another hole seems a good option too… great! thanks!
