hi again Sjoerd !!
well, finally , I took them for a test ride today.
Small , sideshore peaks, shallow banks .
Got a few rights that i got a few turns in on . And one waist [nearly pushing chest] high left .....
impressions ...
the large diffence in size between the black and the blue fins was certainly VERY noticeable . It felt like a turbo-charged twinfin, VERY loose !
But , with the big fins in the front plugs it would have felt even looser and perhaps lacked a bit of drive, i reckon. So I was glad the first test drive was with a twinzer type fin setup [small ones at the front , twinnys at the back]...
I might try it again with slightly smaller back fins , or else slightly larger front side fins , so the difference isn't so noticeable. The plugs on the CD4 Walden are further apart , and further up , than on the average quads i've seen and ridden , so it will be interesting riding these fins in a quadded thruster conversion , or on a narrower quad , as well.
I must say that I'm VERY impressed with the light weight , yet strength and flex , that you've built into these , Sjoerd ! As I say , on a lighter , narrower , more rockered board [such as either my Island or my Gunther Rohn , I reckon they'd be fun , fun , fun !
I have two carbon fibre panels left [out of the 50 or so panels I recently cut and foiled ].... so , I'm thinking , I can make a few GS-sized sideys to go with your carbon twinnies , and see how THAT goes.
I'll also try your little fins as sideys in my 9'4 mal , now that the summer weather and [lack of] swell patterns seem to already be here .....
....to be continued.....
cheers mate !!
